Female Business Leaders Rare

Women hold only 1 out of 9 leadership positions at the largest publicly held companies in California, according to a study released Tuesday. The annual survey of 400 publicly held corporations with headquarters in California was conducted by the UC Davis Graduate School of Management and the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs and Executives. The study found that women hold only 10.4% of the board seats and highest-paid executive positions at the corporations, and that more than 30% of the companies have no women in those leadership positions at all. Half of the companies have no female executive officers, and 47% have no women in their boardrooms. Of the 400 companies surveyed, only 13 had a female CEO.
